PSNI Welcome Sentencing For Range Of Firearms Offences
A 50-year-old man has been sentenced to two years for a number of firearms related offences.
Named by the PSNI as Gregory Wallace, he will serve six months in custody and 18 months on license.
Mr Wallace received the jail terms after pleading guilty to offences including possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, theft and possession of a firearm in a public place at Craigavon Crown Court.
The sentencing follows an investigation into a report of a man armed with a number of weapons, including a knife and a firearm, in a shopping centre in the Lisburn area in February 2022. Mr Wallace was arrested and following searches of his home a number of other weapons were seized including twenty air rifles.
Welcoming the sentencing Detective Sergeant Cargin said: "Mr Wallace brought a number of lethal weapons into a public place which caused real risk to the general public who were in the shopping centre at the time. I hope this sentencing sends out a clear message to anyone who thinks they can get away with this type of crime. We will work tirelessly to bring offenders before the courts."
