Man Arrested In Connection With Aggravated Burglary
Two men have been arrested in connection with an aggravated burglary in the south Belfast area on Monday morning, 27th February.
Detective Sergeant Young said: "Police received a report shortly before 6am of two men acting suspiciously in the Ormeau Road area.
"Police attended and officers from Belfast Harbour Police had already stopped the two men after they threw a number of items into nearby water.
"The items included various stolen goods, which were later detained by Belfast Harbour Police officers.
"Two men, aged 37 and 38, were arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and other offences. They remain in police custody at this time, assisting officers with enquiries.
"We are also treating these two men as suspects in relation to a report of an earlier aggravated burglary in the Knockbreda Park area.
"At approximately 2am it was reported two men, believed to be armed, entered the property through a broken window.
"They demanded car keys and stole a wallet containing a sum of money.
"This was a terrifying experience for the occupants of the property and our investigation is now underway to establish what happened, who was involved, and a motive.
"We are currently investigating a potential link between both reports and are appealing to anyone who was in the Knockbreda Park and Ormeau Road areas, and saw anything suspicious, to call detectives on 101, quoting reference number 228 of 27/02/23."
