Suspected Firearm Recovered In L'Derry Search Operation
A suspected firearm has been recovered by detectives from the PSNI's Terrorism Investigation Unit (TIU) during a search operation in L'Derry, as part of an ongoing investigation into New IRA activity.
Detective Inspector O'Flaherty said: "The planned search was conducted in the Kildrum Gardens area.
"A suspected firearm was recovered during the search. The firearm has been exposed to the elements and is in poor condition. It will be subject to further examination.
"We understand the impact operational activity can have upon the day-to-day lives of local residents, please be assured we seek to maximise safety and minimise any disruption with any planned activity. Our primary focus is keeping our community safe.
"We are grateful for the continued support of local communities as we continue our work to disrupt those involved in terrorism-related activity. We encourage anyone with information, or concerns, to contact us on 101."

On Tuesday 21st May, as part of an ongoing operation, officers stopped and searched a vehicle in the Letterkenny Road area of the city at approximately 6.45pm – recovering a suspected firearm and ammunition.

Three Men Arrested After Suspected Firearm Recovered During Car Search
Three men, aged 26, 30 and 36, have been arrested after police recovered a suspected firearm during a car search in Belfast. The arrests were made in the Clifton Street area just after 10pm on Wednesday, 18 July. All three suspects are being detained at Musgrave Serious Crime Suite. The suspected firearm is to undergo a forensic examination.

Appeal Over Ballymena Jewellery Robbery
Police have appealed for information following an armed robbery at a jewellery store in Ballymena, County Antrim. Three men, one armed with a suspected firearm, went into the shop on Victoria Street at about 17:00 on Monday evening. The men then threatened members of staff and forced them to lie on the ground.

During a search in the Rushall Road area, the suspected firearm was located in the vicinity of a graveyard. Enquiries continue, and the suspected firearm will now be the subject of forensic testing.
