A number of road are closed in Belfast city centre alongside a number of other restrictions and diversions, during the visit of US President Joe Biden.

President Biden is due to delivery a speech at the new Ulster University Campus in Belfast city centre this morning, Wednesday 12 April. It is understood that he will then meet with the leaders of NI's five main political parties.

A large-scale security operation is in place across the city. The PSNI have said: "Motorists are advised that Bedford Street is currently closed to traffic in both directions. This closure will remain in place for some time and police will be on the ground to facilitate pedestrians. Please also be advised of lane restrictions on Dunbar Link into the City Centre.

"Motorists are advised that Donegall Street, Frederick Street, York Street and Great Patrick Street will be closed from 9.30am. We hope to have most of these closures open by evening rush hour traffic and will update accordingly. Please seek an alternative route for your journey."
