US President Hails NI's 'Tremendous Progress'
US President Joe Biden has described Northern Ireland as a "shrine of creativity" and welcomed the "tremendous progress" since the signing of the Good Friday Agreement.
President Biden was speaking at the new Ulster University campus in Belfast city centre during a four-day visit to mark the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Good Friday Agreement.
During his speech, Mr Biden said: "This place is transformed by peace, made technicolour by peace, made whole by peace.
"Let's celebrate 25 extraordinary years by recommitting to renewal, repair, by making this exceptional peace a birth right of every child in Northern Ireland for all the days to come."
The US President went on to urge NI's political leaders to restore Stormont.
President Biden is understood to have held a "brief" meeting with the leaders of the five main political parties following his speech.
