Appeal For Information On Arson Attack In Portrush
The PSNI in Portrush have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following a fire in the early hours of this morning, Thursday 04 May.
At around 2.40am this morning, emergency services were called to reports of a fire in the Glentaisie Park area. It was discovered that a bin had been set alight, igniting a nearby boundary fence and a number of tyres and pallets being stored in the garden of a home.
The PSNI have reported that a number of windows and the front door of a nearby property were damaged during the incident.
It is understood that a woman, aged in her 30s, and her children were in the property at the time of the incident.
Making an appeal for information, Detective Sergeant Gardiner said: "We are not investigating a more tragic incident, due to the quick actions of local residents. As a result, thankfully, there were no reports of any injuries.
"Enquiries are continuing and we are treating this incident as arson with intent to endanger life. Anyone with any information about this incident or who may be able to help with the investigation, is asked to call detectives on the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference number 100 29/04/21, or to submit a report online using the non-emergency reporting form via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/. Detectives have renewed an appeal for information following a deliberate arson attack at a vacant property in the Weaver's Grange area of Newtownards. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 17 November, 2023. Police and firefighters were called to the scene at around 12:40am.

Vandals target graves at Newtownabbey cemetery
Police in Newtownabbey have appealed for information after a number of graves were vandalised at Carnmoney cemetery over the weekend. Reports were received at around 7.10pm yesterday that around 30 graves, which are understood to have been selected at random, had been damaged.
