Executive Needed To Address Young People's Mental Health – SF
Sinn Féin has renewed their call for urgent formation of an Executive to help children and young people suffering with mental health problems.
The party's mental health spokesperson Órlaithí Flynn said: "It is extremely worrying to learn from a new report on mental health that over 45% of sixteen year olds meet the criteria for mental ill health.
"The latest figures also show that the wellbeing of eleven year olds has been declining in recent years and that 1 in 5 young people are worried about their family financial pressures.
"People need an Assembly now to roll out a new Mental Health plan, which would deliver treatments for mental health so urgently needed by our children and young people.
"We need the institutions back up and running and all parties working together to give our health service political leadership and better support those children and their families who are crying out for help."
DUP Welcomes Return Of 'The Open' To NI In 2025
DUP representatives have met with members of Royal Portrush Golf Club and the R&A to discuss plans for 'The Open' in 2025, as it returns to Northern Ireland.
North Down MLA and DUP Sports Spokesperson, Stephen Dunne, said: "The Open in 2019 was a phenomenal success for Northern Ireland. From the great golf played to the massive boost it gave to the local economy. This success is something we want to build on in 2025, and I know the organisers have exciting plans in place to make this event bigger and better.
"Golf in Northern Ireland has massive potential, something that was demonstrated in 2019, and there has been a significant increase in international Golf tourism across the country. For 2025, there is a real appetite to take things to the next level by attracting up to 270,000 visitors to the tournament. This will create tremendous opportunities for local businesses to thrive, all while showing the world the very best that Northern Ireland has to offer.
"We look forward to working with the members of Royal Portrush Golf Club and the R&A to ensure Excitement Builds for the return of 'The Open' to Northern IrelandThe Open in 2025 builds on the huge success of 2019, to create a lasting legacy and appetite for the tournament to return again in the future."
PSNI Renew Appeal For Information On Assault In West Belfast
The PSNI are continuing to appeal for information and witnesses after two men were allegedly assaulted at a festival event in West Belfast on Monday, 14 August.
A man, aged in his 30s, arrested on 21 August on suspicion of grievous bodily harm has since been released on police bail to allow for further enquiries into the investigation.
Police have appealed to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed what happened, or has mobile or CCTV footage that could help our investigation, to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 38 of 14/08/23.
