New Community Hall And Social Hub Opens In Limavady
Work has been completed on a new community hall and social hub in Limavady.
Bethany Community Hall which has now officially opened has been part-funded by the Department for Communities (DfC) with a £400,000 award through the Neighbourhood Renewal Investment Fund, with Bethany Community Trust securing the additional funding.
DfC Deputy Secretary Emer Morelli said the new hall was a welcome boost for the area.
"This fantastic space has opened in the heart of this community and will greatly benefit all those who live in Limavady and the surrounding areas. The hall will provide a shared, accessible space for people to come together.
"This investment will increase community-based service provision and ensure that residents from the Neighbourhood Renewal Areas, and elsewhere in the locality, have access to the best possible facilities. Community and youth groups will be able to extend the services they provide, making it an enjoyable space for all residents to use and enjoy.
"It is an excellent example of what can be achieved through effective partnership working."
The new build project provides a community hall and social hub consisting of multi-purpose spaces, administration offices and meeting rooms, as well as an industrial kitchen and additional facilities, extending the range of services offered to the wider community.
Francis McAuley, Chair of the Trustees of the Bethany Community Centre, said: "This is a welcome investment for the local area and will provide a wonderful resource for people of all ages and abilities. We appreciate the practical and financial support we have received from the Department, and the wider community in Limavady, and know that this resource will enhance the quality of life for residents in the area.
"This safe, modern building will be used by a diverse range of groups, providing them with the space and facilities to organise activities and services for all."
