PSNI Officers Attacked With Firework In Enniskillen
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information and witnesses after officers was injured with a firework in Enniskillen.
The incident occurred in the Hollyhill Link Road area on Thursday, 14th September as officers responded to reports of anti-social behaviour.
It had been reported that youths were throwing fireworks in the area. As responding officers attempted to stop and search an individual a firework was set alight in their direction. The firework exploded next to one of the officers face causing concussion and damage to their ear.
The other officer in attendance suffered a possible perforated eardrum and required hospital treatment. Damage was also caused to their vehicle.
PSNI Chief Inspector Fallis said that assaulting police officers carrying out their duties was "totally unacceptable".
He continued: "Over the last week, members of the community in Enniskillen have been affected by reckless anti-social behaviour in the same area, including fireworks being let off during night time hours.
"This type of activity needs to stop and people need to understand that fireworks are made from explosive material and, if misused, can cause serious and life-changing injuries.
Chief Inspector Fallis appealed to those involved in the activity to "consider the community" and urged parents and guardians to speak to children about their actions.
He concluded: "Our investigation is underway and enquiries are continuing. Anyone with information which can assist us should contact 101, quoting reference number 2077 14/09/23."

Ards Man Fined For Dumping Waste At Bonfire Site
A 51-year-old has been fined for bonfire-related waste offences at Newtownards Magistrates' Court. Gareth Gill, of Abbot's Walk, Newtownards pleaded guilty to waste offences relating to a bonfire next to the electrical sub-station on the Circular Road in the town.
