SDLP Opens New West Belfast Office
The SDLP has officially opened a new party officer on the Anderstown Road in west Belfast.
Party leader Colum Eastwood joined west Belfast councillor Paul Doherty to officially open the new office, which Mr Eastwood described as highlighting the "party's commitment to supporting communities in the area".
Foyle MP Mr Eastwood said: "The SDLP has always had a strong presence in west Belfast and the opening of our new office shows our party's commitment to tackling the issues impacting families here as we work to advance our renewed mission to end division and build a new Ireland.
"Over the past few years Paul Doherty has done fantastic work supporting families who are struggling and people here have put their trust in him to be their voice and representative on council. Our new office is a statement of intent, the SDLP will continue to be a force in west Belfast and I'm looking forward to future successes for Paul and other party representatives in future."
Councillor Paul Doherty added: "I'm delighted to be opening an SDLP office in west Belfast which will be an important hub as we work to support people dealing with a variety of issues including housing, welfare advice and to host local initiatives. Alongside my work with Foodstock I will be determined to do everything I can to help people in this area who have been badly let down by politics here and are under extreme pressure due to the cost of living emergency and the lack of leadership at Stormont.
"I will use my platform as a community representative and councillor to demand better for people in west Belfast. It breaks my heart to see every day the struggles that people are going through. This is a fantastic area with some of the best people you'll find anywhere. In west Belfast people look out for and look after each other and that is the ethos I will try and embody as I continue to work on behalf of everyone here."

Warning Signs To Be Installed To Prevent Use Of Scramblers
Warning signs are to be installed across west Belfast to warn against the use of off-road vehicles being used in parks and public spaces. Police will also patrol hotspot areas to disrupt the dangerous, illegal activity and identify the people involved. The scheme has been launched by the West Belfast DPCSP and the PSNI.

UDA bomb move 'not an act of decommissioning'
Police last night discovered 18 pipe bombs on playing fields at Somerdale Park in the Crumlin Road area of north Belfast. The Ulster Defence Association (UDA) claimed it left the devices in the playing fields "as part of the ongoing steps to stabilise and normalise loyalist west Belfast".

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.

Police Attacked By Young People In West Belfast
The PSNI have condemned the assault of four police officers when they were attacked by young people in West Belfast. At around 6:50pm on Saturday, 06 April, police received a report in relation to community concerns that a large group of young people had congregated in Falls Park and that alcohol was being consumed by children.

Two People Injured In West Belfast Collision
Two people have been injured following a collision in west Belfast. Two vehicles were involved in the crash which occurred in the Shaws Road area just after 6pm on Sunday, 13 December. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
