Sinn Féin Expresses Concerns Over School Budget Cut
Sinn Féin has said the Education Authority's (EA) latest announcement regarding school finances is "extremely concerning".
MLA Pat Sheehan made the comments after the EA revealed it is estimating that it will have around £220 million less than it needs this year to provide for children and young people.
Mr Sheehan said the news will leave many schools across the region "struggling to cover staff and running costs".
In a statement, Mr Sheehan said: "This unsustainable financial situation is a direct result of savage Tory cuts, compounded by the DUP's continued blockade of the Assembly.
"Rather than decimating public services, the British government should provide proper funding for public services like education, and work to restore the Executive so parties can work together to support children and young people."
