UUP Offer 'Ssincerest Condolences' On The Death Of Lady Stella Empey
The Ulster Unionist Party has offered their sincerest condolences to former leader and Member of the House of Lords, Lord Empey of Shandon on the passing of his wife Lady Stella.
Speaking as the news was made public, Party leader Doug Beattie said: "On behalf of the whole Ulster Unionist family, I want to pass my sincerest condolences to Lord Empey, his two children, Christopher and Julie-Anne and the wider family.
"Lady Stella has been a stalwart champion, not just of unionism, but of Northern Ireland, for many decades. Her charity work and involvement in a number of voluntary organisations has improved the lives of many, both at home and abroad.
"We know that Lady Empey had been unwell for some time, but nothing can prepare a family for losing a wife, a mother and Grandmother.
"Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with the Empey family at this very sad time and over the coming weeks."
A&BNI Launch New Creative Training Bitesized Pogramme

Storm Babet Could See Month's Worth Of Rainfall Overnight
A yellow weather warning is now in effect across Northern Ireland, with the Met Office warning that Storm Babet could bring "heavy and prolonged downpours".
The weather warning is in place from 2pm today, Wednesday 18 October, and remains in place until 10am on Thursday morning.
The Met Office has said that the higher ground will see heaviest rainfall, particularly in counties Antrim and Down. It is predicted that a month's worth of rain, up to 100mm, could fall.

Tourism in a 'straitjacket' if violence continues
The Enterprise Minister Sir Reg Empey has said the greatest obstacle to the growth of an exuberant tourist industry in Northern Ireland is the images of violent street disorder beamed all across the world. Addressing the Belfast Visitor and Convention Bureau’s AGM this morning Sir Reg Empey said only peace could deliver the goods.
