Strand Arts Centre Receives £4m Levelling-Up Fund
The Strand Arts Centre in east Belfast, Northern Ireland's last remaining Picturehouse, has been awarded more than £4 million from the UK government's Levelling-up Fund.
The investment will see a major renovation of the historic Picturehousem into a sustainable, versatile arts space.
Planned renovation of the Strand will include:
• three flexible spaces for live theatre and music performances and film
• two drama and dance studios
• rooms for activities such as filmmaking, animation, music and DJ production
• a rooftop view looking over East Belfast
• a new cafe and bar
It is expected that renovation of the landmark building will have an important impact on the surrounding area, with expected benefits including:
• increased engagement in the arts
• opportunity for local people to build new skills
• access to quality creative activities and events

Crescent Arts Centre Restoration Complete
The newly refurbished Crescent Arts Centre in Belfast has been re-opened, following an 18-month restoration project. The £7.2m scheme involved a refurbishment and restoration, which has preserved the exterior façade of the Grade II listed building. The refurbished centre includes an extension that increases the accommodation by approximately 900m2.

Restoration work has commenced on the Strand Arts Centre, Northern Ireland's last remaining Art Deco picture house, as the venue celebrates its 90th anniversary. The £6.5 million redevelopment project will see the cherished cinema, which dates back to 1935, preserved and enhanced, while also creating a new hub for the arts in east Belfast.

Latest City Of Culture News Released
The newest details of the L’Derry City of Culture events programme have been revealed by the Arts Council in Northern Ireland. The news follows an investment of £1m in 18 new arts projects. The funding will support local arts organisations in new artistic ventures, including theatre productions, live music, dance performances and the visual arts.
