Alliance Welcomes New Digital Patient Record System

Alliance has welcomed the introduction of a new digital record system for healthcare in Northern Ireland which intends to improve patient and clinical care.

The party's South Belfast MLA, Paula Bradshaw MLA, commended all of those who have created the new system which is called 'Encompass'.

The system will allow health professionals and consultants to make detailed notes more accessible to other healthcare providers and patients, who can view the records via an app called 'MyCare'.

In a statement, Paula Bradshaw said: "This is a significant turning point for future-proofing our healthcare system in Northern Ireland. I wish to commend all of those who have been working behind the scenes to deliver this, despite the ongoing challenges that are being faced across the health and social care landscape.

"Encompass will drive efficiency within our healthcare system and should be championed as a shining example of what is achievable when we capitalise on technology and innovation to future-proof our health and social care system.

"The introduction of Encompass is a testament to the talented workforce that we have across our resource-limited Department of Health. I'm pleased to see that this development has been introduced in the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, and will be available across other HSCTs over the next 18-24 months."
