Christmas Nightmover Service Returns From 24 November
Translink has announced that their late-night bus and rail service, Christmas Nightmover, will return from Friday, 24 November.
The public transport provider has partnered with a number of organisations including the Belfast Improvement Districts, Hospitality Ulster, Visit Belfast and local taxi companies fonaCAB and Valuecabs to encourage revellers to travel into the city for their Christmas catch ups with the assurance they can get home safely.
Late-night Belfast Metro services will start first on Friday 24th November and will be followed by Goldliner/Urby and rail services from Friday, 1st December offering a range of departures to towns and cities across Northern Ireland.
Special Nightmover fares will be applied for all passengers starting from £6 for an adult Metro single ticket. These can be purchased from the driver, conductor or station staff on the day of travel.
Commenting on the return of the late-night timetable, Translink Group Chief Executive, Chris Conway said: "We are pleased to offer these additional popular festive services and welcome the vital support from our partners this year. The night-time economy plays an essential role in boosting tourism, jobs and in keeping people better connected and we want to play our part in helping more people enjoy the fantastic hospitality on offer.
"People can come into the city and enjoy all the Christmas craic and festivities knowing they have a safe and reliable way home.
"We know there has been strong public interest in late night bus and rail services and we are expecting them to be busy as more people make the most of the festive season. We look forward to working with our partners to create a more connected, sustainable, and liveable city for all," Chris concluded.
Commenting on the return of Nightmovers, Clare Guinness from the Belfast Chamber of Commerce said: "This is a welcome initiative from Translink that will support Belfast's outstanding night-time economy and will allow people to extend their enjoyment of the Christmas festivities knowing they have a safe and reliable route home."

With so many more people going out in the night-time economy at this time of year, having more options for travel can only add to the numbers enjoying what our great hospitality has to offer. This announcement follows the recent introduction of additional later evening Foyle Metro services already introduced on Friday and Saturday nights in Derry~Londonderry with departures from Foyle Street Bus Station to most parts of the city between 10.30pm and 11pm.
Services will run every Friday and Saturday until Friday 22 December. Full details of Translink's festive travel package and Christmas timetable arrangements are now available at www.translink.co.uk/nightmovers, social media channels and via our contact centre.

Winter Safety Service Staff Ready To 'Keep People Moving'
Some 300 winter safety service staff and 130 gritters were deployed by the Department for Infrastructure in an effort to keep people moving following a warning for snow and ice. Twelve specialist snow blowers are also available to be deployed if required.

Translink Release Festive Timetable
Translink has released its Christmas and New Year timetable for the festive season. Passengers are urged to ensure their travel arrangements are in place ahead of Christmas nights out, with a range of night movers buses and trains on offer. A range of reduced fares and value offers will also be available.

Investigation Into South Belfast Fire
An investigation has been launched into a fire at a former primary school in south Belfast. The Fire Service confirmed they were called to the blaze at the school on School Road in Newtownbreda at about 22:00 on Sunday. It is understood the building was badly damaged in the fire.

Work Starts On New Rapid Transit Service Facility
A new £20 million Service Centre for Rapid Transit vehicles is being built in Belfast. The Milewater Service facility will transform public transport in the city with new modern, environmentally friendly hybrid buses and high quality bus ways. Construction is being carried by Henry Brothers Limited.
