NI Has A Role To Play In Fight Against Climate Change - Alliance
Alliance has urged everyone to play a role in the fight against climate change, including Northern Ireland.
The party's Climate spokesperson and chair of APG, Danny Donnelly, has revealed that the Climate Action APG would welcome Sinéad Magner, a Leadership and Learning Associate with the Women’s Environment and Development Organisation, live from COP28.
In a statement, Mr Donnelly said:
"The climate crisis is only continuing to grow and the world is still falling well short of what is required to limit the impact by the end of the century. We can’t afford many more missed opportunities.
"That’s why COP28 can’t simply be a forum to pay lip service to the emergency that we are already late in trying to deal with. We need meaningful engagement aimed at delivering long lasting solutions, nothing less will suffice.
"Everyone has a role to play, including here in Northern Ireland, which is why it's important we continue to engage in the global conversations and play our part in delivering climate action – which shouldn’t be seen as a threat, but rather an opportunity to create thousands of new green jobs."
