Dead motorcyclist was police officer
One of the motorcyclists who died following an accident in Co Down on Tuesday was a police officer.
The officer, who was named as Gerard Martin McCallion, 23, died when his motorbike collided with another motorcycle on the Ballymoney Road in the Craigantlet Hills at around 10.15pm.
Mr McCallion, whose address was given as Lurgan police station, died in hospital from his injuries.
The second victim, 30-year-old Gary William Ferran from east Belfast, died at the scene of the crash.
North Down MP Lady Hermon said it was "two more tragic deaths in North Down - too many".

Pair Held In Officer's Murder Probe
Two men in their 20s and 30s, are being questioned at Antrim police station after being arrested in connection with the murder of a police officer in Craigavon, Co Armagh last year. Constable Stephen Carroll (pictured) was shot dead by dissident republicans when he went to answer a distress call on 9 March last year.

Detectives have renewed an appeal for information following a deliberate arson attack at a vacant property in the Weaver's Grange area of Newtownards. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 17 November, 2023. Police and firefighters were called to the scene at around 12:40am.

Seven Released Over Lorraine McCausland Murder
Seven men arrested in connection with the rape and murder of Lorraine McCausland have been released. Ms McCausland, 23, was discovered dead beside a stream in the Forthriver area of north Belfast on 08 March, 1987. A file will be submitted to the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).
