'Deeply Concerning' DoH Has Ended Nexus NI Contract – SF
Sinn Féin has said that it is "deeply concerning" that the Department of Health has ended the contract of Nexus NI for specialist counselling services.
Linda Dillon MLA said: "I am deeply concerned that the Department of Health has ended the contract of Nexus NI for specialist counselling services for victims of sexual abuse and violence.
"Instead, the Department has said victims of sexual abuse can be referred to their GP for counselling, but this is not adequate as victims of sexual abuse need to have specialist services to meet their needs.
"The Assembly passed a motion last week calling for the Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy to be a priority, ending violence against women and girls needs to be a priority for us all. Nexus NI are a key partner in helping to deliver on this.
"I would call on the Health Minister to review this decision to ensure that victims of abuse can get the help they need."
