East Belfast Security Alert Declared 'Elaborate Hoax'
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following a security alert at the Henry Jones Playing Field in east Belfast on Sunday, 26 May.
A suspicious object was reported at the playing field in the Church Road area of Castlereagh shortly after 11.20am. Police and Army Technical Officers attended the scene and a number of road in the area were closed as the device was investigated. Following examination the device was declared an elaborate hoax and was subsequently removed for forensic examination.
Inspector Carey said: "Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and anyone with any information is asked to contact Police on 101, quoting reference number 651 of 26/05/24.
"A report can also be submitted online using the non-emergency reporting form via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/ or you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org/."

Appeal For Information On Newry Security Alert

The alert began when it was reported to police that a suspicious object had been left in the Drumgullion Avenue area at around 2.50pm. Ards Vehicle Fire Being Treated As Arson
A vehicle fire in Newtownards in the early hours of Sunday 23 April is being treated as arson, the PSNI has reported. Shortly after 1.20am, police received a report that the window of a Ford Transit van, parked in the Upper Greenwell Street area, had been smashed and a fire started in the front cabin.
