Mike Nesbitt Announced As NI's New Health Minister
UUP MLA Mike Nesbitt has been announced as the new Health Minister for Northern Ireland, as party colleague, Robin Swann, stands in the UK General Election.
Mr Swann was Health Minister throughout the pandemic and took up the roll again when the Executive reformed earlier this year.
He had announced in April that he would stand down as Health Minister in order to stand as MP for South Antrim.
It is understood that Mr Nesbitt has been shadowing Mr Swann since his return as Health Minister, in preparation of taking on the role.
He welcomed his role as the "ultimate political challenge" and said that it was him aim to "put a bit of hope back into discussions about the national health service".

Mike Nesbitt Remains Only Potential UUP Leader Candidate
Mike Nesbitt remains the only candidate to replace Doug Beattie as leader of the Ulster Unionist Party(UUP). Mr Beattie announced he was stepping down as leader of the party last week, citing "irreconcilable differences" with party officers. Nominations for the leadership contest are due to close later today, Friday 30 August.

The Public Health Agency (PHA) is encouraging community and voluntary organisations across Northern Ireland to apply for its Elevate Mentoring and Grants programme, designed to help tackle health inequalities at a local level. The programme, coordinated by the Community Development and Health Network (CDHN), is now open for applications.
