John Lewis to open store in Sprucefield
It is reported that the top retail department store John Lewis is to open a store at the Sprucefield complex on the outskirts of Lisburn.
The retail chain was previously believed to be considering Tallaght in Dublin, but in a move yet to be confirmed the chain have opted for the Sprucefield site in Co Antrim, Northern Ireland.
The major store development, which is expected to create hundreds of jobs, has been hailed as a major coup for Lisburn City.
Employing 59,000 people, the John Lewis Partnership, which trades under the names John Lewis and Waitrose, is the oldest surviving co-operative retail organisation in the UK.

Detectives from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force have made a significant drug seizure in Omagh. Officers searched a van in the Doogary Road area on Thursday morning, 21st November, and recovered a substantial quantity of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of £750,000.

An MLA has slammed on-going delays that are preventing the launch of a major John Lewis store in Northern Ireland. Ulster Unionist Finance Spokesperson David McNarry has said that preventing such retail chains from locating to Northern Ireland is "no way to combat our economic woes".

John Lewis planning permission overturned
The High Court in Belfast has today overturned a decision to grant planning permission for a John Lewis store in County Antrim. Today's decision rejects the application for the £40 million development, which had previously been given the go ahead to be built at Sprucefield, just outside Lisburn in County Antrim.

John Lewis objectors take their case to court
The planning approval for a new John Lewis superstore in Lisburn has been challenged at the High Court on Thursday. Belfast City Council and the Chamber of Trade and Commerce combined to mount the joint challenge to the planning approval, which was given in June despite going against the advice of Planning Service officials.

John Lewis Plan Faces Further Delay
A public inquiry into a controversial department store plan near Lisburn has been put back until the Autumn. Over six years since the plan was first mooted, the probe aims to look into the proposals for a flagship John Lewis store. However, it opened on Monday only to be adjourned on its first day - without hearing any of the evidence.
