21-Year-Old Charged With Murder Of Woman In East Belfast
A 21-year-old man is due to appear in Belfast Magistrate's Court today charged with with murder of a woman in east Belfast.
Responding to a 'concern for safety' report, police attended a house on the Castlereagh Road shortly before 10.30pm on Friday, 13 September. At the property, officers discovered the body of 43-year-old Rachel Simpson in the garage beside the house.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil McGuinness said: "A man, aged 21, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder, and he remains in police custody at this time. "Officers remain at the scene as we continue with our investigation. A post mortem will be carried out to establish the cause of death.
"I am appealing to anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area between 5pm and 10.30pm, or who has CCTV or dashcam footage, to please contact Detectives on 101 and quote reference 1693 of 13/09/24.
"Any information, no matter how small it may seem, could be very helpful. You can also report online using the non-emergency reporting form here or via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online here."

North Belfast Murder Victim Conor McKee Shot A Number Of Times
31-year-old north Belfast murder victim Conor McKee was shot a number of times, police have revealed. Mr McKee was found dead by his mother at his Glenpark Street home last Thursday night. Two men arrested over the murder have been released on bail.

Four Injured In North Belfast Attack
Police have held two men on suspicion of attempted murder following an attack in north Belfast. The incident occurred in the Woodvale Drive area on Sunday morning. The suspects, aged 26 and 32, were arrested after being treated in hospital for their injuries.

Arrest Over Attempted Murder
Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident on the Limestone Road in north Belfast on Friday night. A 25-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries sustained during the attack, in which a number of people are believed to have been involved.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the stabbing of a 66-year-old man in east Belfast on Tuesday afternoon. The attack occurred at Wolsey's tackle shop on the Upper Newtownards Road at about 15:30.

Simon Tang: Second Murder Charge Withdrawn
A second murder charge over the killing of Chinese restaurateur Simon Tang in 1996 has been withdrawn. Belfast Magistrates' Court has heard the case against Paul Allen will not proceed. Mr Allen, 39, of Drumhoy Drive, Carrickfergus, faced charges over the murder of Simon Tang. Mr Tang was a married father of two.
