Finance Minister Calls For Immediate Lift On Growth Deal Pause

The Finance Minister, Dr Caoimhe Archibald, has urged the British Government to end the current pause on the Causeway Coast and Glens and Mid South West Growth Deals.

Following a meeting with UK government officials on Wednesday, Dr Archibald emphasized the vital role these deals play in driving economic growth and creating jobs in the region. She expressed disappointment at the ongoing delay and stressed the need for immediate clarity for local authorities and businesses.

"The Executive and elected representatives from all sides of the Assembly are united in our demand that the pause be lifted immediately," Dr Archibald stated. "Local government and Deal Partners have invested significant time and resources into these initiatives, which hold immense potential for economic development."

The Finance Minister highlighted the importance of treating all Growth Deals fairly and avoiding any disparity in their implementation. She called on the British Government to provide clarity on the future of the Causeway Coast and Glens and Mid South West Deals without further delay.

"I am committed to continuing discussions with UK officials to make the case for these Deals and their contribution to economic prosperity across Northern Ireland," Dr Archibald added.
