Orange Parades Forum to meet with nationalist residents
The North and West Belfast Parades Forum, which represents Orangemen, unionists and loyalists, has undertaken to enter into discussions with nationalist residents this coming autumn over the issue of contentious parades.
The commitment comes in the wake of serious disturbances in the Ardoyne area of north Belfast on Monday July 12, during which 25 police officers were injured.
The disturbances followed a returning Orange Lodge parade, which passed shops in the predominantly nationalist Ardoyne. Army personnel were also injured during the rioting, and a water cannon was eventually used to disperse the crowd.
Controversially, the PSNI allowed parade followers to move past the area some time after the parade itself, despite a Parades Commission ruling that only the Lodges themselves should be allowed past.

Pedestrian Injured In Belfast Hit-and-Run
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a hit-and-run incident in the Botanic Avenue area of Belfast in the early hours of Thursday morning. Officers were called to the scene shortly before 1.30am after a male pedestrian was struck by a maroon Mazda. Despite being injured, the pedestrian left the area before police arrived.

Houses attacked with paint bombs
Three houses on the outskirts of Belfast have been damaged in paint bomb attacks early this morning. The series of incidents, which occurred in the mainly nationalist Bawnmore Park in Newtownabbey, left one window smashed and a car damaged. Police have appealed for any witnesses to the attacks to contact them.
