Man dies in Co Down road collision

A man has died following a road traffic accident in Co Down this morning.

Three vehicles were involved in the collision which occurred at Bells Hill in Downpatrick shortly before 8am.

Traffic diversions have been put in place and police have advised motorists to avoid the area completely if possible.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to contact detectives in Downpatrick on 028 4461 5011.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Downpatrick police are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic collision which occurred just before 4.30pm on Sunday. Three vehicles were involved in the collision which occurred on the Newcastle Road in Drumaness, Ballynahinch.

Pensioner dies in road collision
A man in his 80s has died following a road traffic collision in west Belfast. It is understood a lorry was involved in the incident which occurred at around 8:45am this morning. Detectives have asked for anyone who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed the event to contact them.

Man dies in road traffic collision
A 19-year-old man has died in hospital following a road traffic collision in Co Tyrone. The collision, involving a car and a lorry, occurred at Deverney Road just outside Omagh at around 9.30am on Wednesday. The car driver was taken to the Tyrone County Hospital, where he died several hours later.

Police Officer Disciplined For Failing To Investigate Collision
A police officer has been disciplined after she failed to investigate a traffic accident in Coleraine because she did not realise there had been a collision, a Police Ombudsman investigation has confirmed.
