Escaped Prisoner Extradited To Northern Ireland
A prisoner who had been on the run for over a year has been returned to Northern Ireland from the Republic of Ireland.
Thomas McCabe, 60, was extradited on Tuesday, 22 October, following his arrest in the Republic of Ireland on 10 August. He had been unlawfully at large from prison since August 23, 2023. The Police Service of Northern Ireland had been seeking McCabe in connection with his escape. The extradition process was completed successfully, bringing the fugitive back to Northern Ireland to face justice.
Sergeant Davey from the International Policing Unit said: "Police Service of Northern Ireland continue to work closely with authorities in the Republic of Ireland to return fugitives to Northern Ireland.
"We will continue to work closely with An Garda Siochana to locate those who abscond the justice system.
"Our message is clear to anyone who has left Northern Ireland to avoid the consequences of their actions: we will use all powers available to have you arrested and returned to Northern Ireland."

Northern Ireland's football team were left frustrated after a goalless daw against the Republic of Ireland last night, Thursday 15 November. The teams played a friendly at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, which saw Kyle Lafferty return to the pitch in the last 20 minutes.
