Appeal For Information Following Ballymena Burglary
Antrim CID detectives have issued an appeal for information following a report of a burglary in Ballymena Tuesday, 12th November.
Making the appeal, Detective Sergeant McDowell said: "We received a report that a house was broken into in the Parklands area, sometime between 12.30pm and 8pm.
"It was reported that entry was gained via a back door and the house was rummaged through. A quantity of cash is reported to have been taken.
"Detectives would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area on Tuesday afternoon to contact police on 101 and quote reference 1606 of 12/11/24. SDLP Question Economy Minister Over Failure To Bid For Business Support Funding
The SDLP has questioned Economy, Conor Murphy, over his failure to bid for support for small and medium-sized enteprises (SMEs).
Minister Murphy confirmed in the Assembly on Tuesday that he did not bid for any funding in the latest monitoring round.
Business groups had asked the Minister to provide support in the context of rises to National Insurance contributions and the minimum wage.
Economy Spokesperson and Foyle MLA, Sinéad McLaughlin, said: "It was really disappointing to hear the Minister's lack of engagement when I asked him in the Chamber today about much needed support for SMEs. Small businesses, particularly those within the retail and hospitality sector, have been clear of the need for support following the UK Government's Budget. Businesses have been through a very difficult few years, with many closing their doors every week.
"These businesses will be feeling let down that their concerns have not been given greater consideration by the Minister. Last week the Assembly unanimously agreed about the need to rejuvenate high street businesses and yet the Minister did not even bid for funding in the latest monitoring round.
"I also asked the Minister if he would be willing to meet with business organisations and discuss their issues. It's important that their concerns do not fall on deaf ears. The SDLP Opposition has been clear that the Executive should have ring-fenced funding to support SMEs and I fear we will now unfortunately see the consequences of their failure to do so play out over the next few months."
SF Urge Road Users To Stay Safe And Be Vigilant On NI Roads
Sinn Féin MLA, Cathal Boylan, has urged road users to do everything in their power to stay safe and be vigilant on our roads.
Speaking ahead of the upcoming World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims on Sunday, 17 November, the party's transport spokesperson said: "Unfortunately many families continue to suffer the tragedy of losing a loved one on our roads.
"The upcoming World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims reminds us all of the collective responsibility we have on our roads to stay safe and to help protect the lives of others.
"I commend all those who have long campaigned for road upgrades to improve safety and save lives across our island.
"I would remind road users of the PSNI's 'Fatal Five' strategy; don't drink and drive, slow down, don't get careless, belt up and stay off your phone."

A man has died in a workplace accident in Co Armagh. It is believed the man was crushed by a road roller while a new road surface was being laid on the Bog Road, Forkhill, on Wednesday, 31 May. Police and the Health and Safety Executive have launched an investigation.

Woman Killed In Co Armagh Road Collision
A woman in her 30s has been killed in a road crash in Portadown, Co Armagh. The woman was hit by a car as she was walking on the side of the Moy Road at around 9.45pm on Tuesday. The road was closed for a short time but it has been reopened. Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
