Portadown Interface Structure Removed
A legacy interface structure that has stood in Portadown for 27 years has been successfully removed by the Department of Justice (DoJ) following extensive consultation with the local community.
The three-metre-tall metal barrier at Water Street was removed as part of the 'Together: building a united community' (T:buc) Strategy. The DoJ-led Interfaces Programme worked closely with the local community and Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council to facilitate its removal.
Welcoming the statement, Justice Minister Naomi Long, said: "Removing these physical barriers makes a positive contribution to building a truly shared society in Northern Ireland. Significant collaboration has been going on behind the scenes, and I commend the local community for supporting this significant step forward."
Local community groups, including Drumcree Community Trust and the Obins Street and Park Road Community Association, have expressed their support for the removal of the interface.
A spokesperson for Parkmount Orange Lodge also welcomed the redevelopment of the Water Street area and encouraged further investment in the local community.
Lord Mayor Sarah Duffy praised the extensive community consultation and expressed hope for the future regeneration of the area.
A local developer is currently planning to regenerate and redevelop the derelict site.

Belfast Residents Urged To Inform PEACEPLUS Action Plan
Belfast residents and community and voluntary organisations are being encouraged to help develop the city's PEACEPLUS local community action plan. The Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) has approved an indicative allocation of €17,437,277 for Belfast City Council's PEACEPLUS Local Community Action Plan under theme 1.1 of the PEACEPLUS Programme.

Estate benefits from state of the art playpark
Strabane's Lisnafin estate has a new state of the art play area thanks to a £40,000 grant from the Department for Social Development. The money, from the Local Community Fund, has transformed the former green area adjacent to the local community centre, into a play park for young children.
