Finance Minister John O'Dowd has called on the insurance industry to support consumers affected by Storm Éowyn.

Following a meeting with the Association of British Insurers, Minister O'Dowd emphasized the need for the industry to provide assistance and support to policyholders who experienced damage as a result of the severe weather. "Insurance companies must support and protect consumers in the wake of the unprecedented impact of Storm Éowyn," Minister O'Dowd stated. "The storm caused widespread disruption to households and businesses and the insurance industry must back customers through providing advice, emergency assistance and paying claims."

He stressed the importance of a collective effort to address the challenges faced by those impacted by the storm.

"Consumers must not be left to meet the long-term costs of Storm Éowyn through higher insurance premiums," he added. "Insurance premiums are a significant expense, and I am committed to working with the industry to ensure all consumers are supported and protected."
