11-Year-Old Girl Dies After Castledawson Collision
An 11-year-old girl has tragically died after being struck by a car on Hillhead Road, outside Castledawson, on the afternoon of Wednesday 05 March.
The incident occurred shortly after 4pm as the girl exited a school bus.
Inspector Adair said: "There was a large number of people in the vicinity at the time who may have recorded video footage of the scene. I would ask anyone with footage not to share it on social media, but instead forward it to police through the Major Incident Public Portal. This footage will be of great assistance to officers investigating the collision."
He confirmed that the Hillhead Road has since reopened, but the investigation is ongoing.
"Anyone with any information, dash-cam footage or images taken at the scene can also call on 101, quoting reference number 1038 05/03/25," Inspector Adair added.
A report can also be submitted online using the non-emergency reporting form via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/.

The victim was walking along the Whitechurch Road, between Millisle and Ballywalter, last Thursday when the accident occurred. The girl's sister, who was with her at the time, was also injured in the incident however her condition is described as comfortable.

Appeal Issued After Teenage Girl Knocked Down In South Belfast
Police are appealing for information after a teenage girl was knocked down in the Carryduff area in south Belfast. The incident happened on the pedestrian crowding on the Ballynahinch Road on 03 January at around 5.05pm. The vehicle drove over the 14-year-old’s foot and drove away.

A man who died in a crash in Toomebridge on Thursday, 17 August, was Ciaran Hurl, the PSNI have confirmed. Ciaran, aged 26, was from the Moortown area and was riding a motorcycle involved in a collision with a lorry on Blackpark Road just before 6am. The road has since been re-opened.
