Police Investigate Threatening Letters And Flags Erected in Lisburn

Police in Lisburn are continuing to investigate reports of threatening letters sent to residents in Altona Drive last month, followed by further reports at the weekend (Sunday, 19th April) regarding flags being erected in the same area.

Superintendent Kelly Moore stressed the seriousness with which police are treating these incidents. "I would like to stress that Police take all reports of intimidation and threats very seriously, and I want to offer every assurance that our officers are investigating, and will continue to investigate, all those received."

She also highlighted ongoing engagement with partner agencies, community representatives, and local residents. "We are also continuing to engage with our partner agencies, community representatives and local residents in relation to these issues, and I would like to express how much we appreciate the support of those people who have already come forward to help us and provide assistance and information in relation to our investigation, which is very much ongoing."

Superintendent Moore appealed to anyone with information to come forward. "In the meantime, I would continue to appeal to anyone who might have any information at all which could help us with our enquiries, to come forward."

She also encouraged anyone with concerns about threats or intimidation to contact the police. Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. Police Officer Injured After Gun Accidentally Discharges
A police officer has been injured after a gun accidentally discharged in L'Derry. The incident occurred at Strand Police Station just before 8am on Monday. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening, according to the police.

Police Treat School Threatening Emails As Hoax
Police are treating threatening emails sent to nine schools in Northern Ireland today, Monday 24 March, as a hoax, despite the disruption caused, including the closure of some schools. Officers received reports this morning from three schools in Strabane, three in Ballycastle, and three in Enniskillen regarding emails received in the early hours.

Man stabbed while out walking his dog
A 61-year-old man has been stabbed while out walking his dog in Londonderry on Tuesday. The victim was walking his dog along a laneway near the Springtown Industrial Estate when two men approached him. They asked the man for a cigarette before one of the assailants lunged at him and stabbed him in the chest.

Murder inquiry launched after Markets body find
A murder inquiry has been launched after the body of a man was discovered in a flat in the Markets area of Belfast. Neighbours found the body in an upstairs flat in Friendly Place at 7.45am on Monday. Police believe the 38-year-old man had been beaten. Two men have been arrested by detectives and are helping them with their inquiries.
