Appeal For Information On Newry Casino Robbery
Police are appealing for information and witnesses following a robbery at a casino in the Monaghan Street area of Newry on Sunday evening, 27th April.
At approximately 9.55pm, a man described as being in his mid-20s entered the premises armed with a blade. He confronted a female staff member, demanding money before fleeing the scene on foot with a quantity of cash.
Detective Sergeant Johnston described the impact of the crime on the victim. "Although unharmed, the staff member was left understandably shaken by what happened – this would have been a terrifying ordeal." Detectives are urging anyone who was in the Monaghan Street area around the time of the robbery and noticed anything suspicious to come forward. "If you were in the area last night and noticed anything suspicious, we would ask that you call us on 101 quoting reference number 1596 27/04/25."
Police are also asking residents in the vicinity to check any security footage they may have. "Anyone living in this general area or nearby is also asked to review your doorbell, CCTV or dash-cam footage. Your assistance is of great importance to us in our investigation."
Anyone with information can contact police on 101, quoting the reference number provided. Alternatively, a report can be submitted online using the non-emergency reporting form via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/.

Police have said there was "no evidence" of shots being fired at a house in L'Derry. The incident happened in the Cornshell Fields area shortly after 11pm on Monday, 27 February. Bereaved Families Pay Tribute To Tragic Cookstown Teens
Families of the tree tragic teens who died in a crush at a St Patricks event on Sunday have paid tribute to their lost loved ones. The young victims, 16-year-old Connor Currie, 17-year-old Lauren Bullock and 17-year-old Morgan Barnard, died after the incident at the Greenvale Hotel in Cookstown on Sunday 17 March.
