'Minority Of Bad Faith Actors' Fuelling Sectarian Division in North Belfast – Alliance
Alliance MLA Nuala McAllister has stated that a "minority of bad faith actors" are determined to perpetuate sectarian division in North Belfast. Her comments come in the wake of a series of sectarian-motivated attacks in the Annalee Street and Alloa Street areas over the past week.
Ms McAllister thanked residents who attended a multi-agency meeting and those who contacted her individually for sharing their experiences, noting that the community's response to these attacks demonstrates the "overwhelming majority of people in North Belfast are committed to creating a vibrant, welcoming community for all." She affirmed her continued work with the PSNI, local agencies, and residents to ensure safety and security in Annalee Street and Alloa Street, encouraging anyone with relevant information to contact the PSNI or Crimestoppers confidentially.
"Northern Ireland is almost 30 years on from the Good Friday Agreement, yet a minority of bad faith actors are determined to ensure sectarian division lives on," said Ms McAllister. She condemned the unacceptable situation where some residents, including families with young children and elderly individuals with health conditions, have been forced to flee their homes due to safety concerns, no longer feeling secure in the places they love.Ms McAllister thanked residents who attended a multi-agency meeting and those who contacted her individually for sharing their experiences, noting that the community's response to these attacks demonstrates the "overwhelming majority of people in North Belfast are committed to creating a vibrant, welcoming community for all."
