Former Kincora Site To Be Developed For Housing

Construction has officially commenced on a new £2.75 million residential development at 236 Upper Newtownards Road in east Belfast, as Hagan Homes, one of Northern Ireland's largest homebuilders, begins work on the former Kincora Boys' Home site. This modern scheme will feature nine high-specification two-bedroom apartments, marking a significant transformation for the area.

The site, with its long and varied history, was originally home to the Kincora Boys' Home from 1958 to 1980. It was later converted into office space by a private company before Hagan Homes acquired the property in 2019 and subsequently demolished the existing structure in 2022.

Construction is anticipated to take 12 months, with the show apartment expected to open in early 2026. The first homeowners are projected to move in by summer 2026, with prices for the apartments ranging from £275,000 to £325,000.

This site has a complex history, and we are proud to be transforming it into a vibrant, modern residential space that will contribute positively to the fabric of east Belfast. This project is rooted in our community ethos – breathing new life into once-vibrant neighbourhoods."

This development marks Hagan Homes' seventh residential project in east Belfast, reinforcing the Ballyclare-based company's continued investment in the area. Over the past 35 years, Hagan Homes has delivered more than 5,000 homes across Northern Ireland, earning a reputation for high-quality, affordable housing and a strong commitment to community enhancement.
