Young Boy Dies In Portaferry Hit-and-Run Collision

A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Portaferry.

Shortly after 11pm on Tuesday, 08 July, police received a report that a young boy riding a scooter had been struck by a red Skoda Fabia in the Strand area. It is understood that the vehicle had failed to remain at the scene.

Emergency services responded and the boy was taken to hospital. He died a short time later as a result of his injuries.

A 51-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of a number of related offences. He currently remains in police custody, assisting with enquiries.

The Strand area of Portaferry was closed to traffic for a period following the incident as police conducted their investigation.

Inspector Adair appealed to the public for assistance, stating: "Enquiries are continuing, and anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam or other footage which could assist with our investigation, is asked to contact Collision Investigation Unit detectives via 101, quoting reference number 1788 08/07/25."

Sturgan Road Closed For Collision Investigation Tests
The Sturgan Road outside Camlough will be closed for several hours this evening, Wednesday, 05 March, as police conduct scene testing following a fatal collision. Officers from the PSNI's Collision Investigation Unit will be carrying out tests related to a single-vehicle collision on 27 October, 2023, in which a 16-year-old boy died.

Investigation Launched After Sudden Death Of Teenager In Portadown
Police have launched an investigation following the sudden death of a teenager in Portadown. It is believed the body of the 16-year-old boy was found at his house on Tuesday, 22 August. A post-mortem examination is to be carried out to determine the cause of his death. No further details have been released.

A 54-year-old man, Tony Wright from the Magherafelt area, has died following a single-vehicle road traffic collision in Magherafelt yesterday, Sunday, 01 June. Police confirmed that they received a report at approximately 12:10pm of a serious road traffic collision involving a silver Peugeot Partner van on the Grange Road.

Woman Dies Following Collision In Newtownabbey
A woman has died in hospital following a collision on the Doagh Road in Newtownabbey on Monday, 13th January. Shortly before 6.15pm, police received a report of a collision involving a grey Seat Ateca and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a woman aged in her 80s, was taken to hospital but has since died as a result of her injuries.

Pedestrian Dies Following Road Traffic Collision Ikn West Belfast
A female pedestrian in her 70s has tragically died following a road traffic collision in west Belfast on Saturday, 9th November. The incident occurred on Hannahstown Hill shortly after 6:50pm when two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle. Emergency services attended the scene, and the injured pedestrians were taken to hospital.
