Fresh Appeal Issued For Downpatrick Sexual Assault
A fresh appeal for information has been issued by police investigating a serious sexual assault on a teenage girl in Downpatrick last month.
The girl was walking in the Samson’s Lane area, off the Killough Road, at approximately 8.30am on Tuesday, 24 June, when she was attacked by an unknown male.
The suspect is described as a white male, around 15 or 16 years-old with dirty blond hair, dressed in black clothing. Detective Superintendent Lindsay Fisher from PSNI Public Protection Branch has said dedicated detectives in the Rape Crime Unit are "providing specialist support to the young girl" and "continue to work at pace to progress the investigation."
Detective Superintendent Fisher added: "To aid our enquiries, I am asking anyone who may have been in the area between 8.30am and 9am, or who has any other information that could help our investigation - no matter how insignificant it may seem - to please contact us by calling 101."
