Police Investigate Suspected Arson In L'Derry
Police in L'Derry are appealing for information and witnesses following a suspected deliberate fire that caused extensive damage to a building in the Duncreggan Road area of the city on Saturday evening, 19 July.
Inspector Craig confirmed that a report was received at approximately 21:20 on Saturday, detailing that the building had been set alight. Officers attended the scene to implement road closures, working alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) who successfully brought the blaze under control. The affected area has since fully reopened to road users, and enquiries are ongoing today to determine the exact circumstances of the incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, despite the significant damage caused to the property. Authorities are treating the fire as a suspected deliberate ignition.

A man aged in his 50s has died in a house fire in Magherafelt, Co L'Derry An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire at a house on Highfield Road, however police said that they don't believe the fire was suspicious. The man's identity has not yet been released.
