Two Arrested After Significant Cannabis Factory Discovered In Hillsborough
The PSNI has arrested a 62-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman after uncovering a significant cannabis factory in a residential property on Ballyworfy Road, Hillsborough.
The arrests were made yesterday, Monday, 21 July, after officers attended the property on an unrelated matter.
Inspector Adams reported that officers noticed a strong smell of cannabis around 23:30. Upon checking the property, they discovered hundreds of cannabis plants cultivated across multiple rooms. Both individuals were arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis, among other offences, and remain in custody. Inspector Adams commented on the success of the operation: "A substantial quantity of drugs has now been prevented from reaching our streets and what appears to be a well-organised operation has been dismantled. Targeting drugs supply is a priority for the Police Service of Northern Ireland."
The investigation into this discovery is ongoing. The PSNI is appealing to the public for any information that could assist their enquiries, urging them to contact the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1867 of 21/07/25. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
