Translink And NOW Group Extend JAM Card Scheme

Translink has unveiled a new strategic partnership with The NOW Group, deepening its commitment to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion within its public transport services.

This three-year programme builds on a successful, decade-long collaboration that began in 2013 with the promotion of the JAM (Just A Minute) Card, designed to make services more inclusive for everyone.

Over the past ten years, the partnership has significantly increased JAM Card sign-ups, with over 190,000 users currently benefiting from the initiative. The new programme aims to further raise awareness of the JAM Card and encourage more people with invisible disabilities to use public transport with confidence. Key elements include JAM Card training certification for Translink employees and the development of a new job academy. This academy will offer Translink work placements specifically designed to help participants develop skills and experience for future employment.

Jacqui Kennedy, Chief People & Corporate Services Officer at Translink, stated: "We're committed to ensuring our services and facilities are accessible to everyone and this enhanced partnership with The NOW Group reflects our strong customer focus and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. Over the years, The JAM Card has been an essential tool for so many of our passengers, helping them enjoy greater independence and keeping people better connected."

Maeve Monaghan, CEO of The NOW Group, added: "We've built such a strong relationship with Translink over the years, and they've been instrumental in helping the JAM Card initiative grow. It's been incredible to see the difference being a JAM Card friendly business makes, giving customers who need a little more time or understanding the confidence to travel with ease and dignity." She also expressed excitement for the Job Academy, which will open meaningful employment opportunities within Translink.

Louise McBride, a JAM Card user and frequent Translink traveller, shared her experience: "The JAM Card takes the stress out of travelling. I don't have to explain myself or feel rushed because the staff already understand. It's such a relief and makes using the bus or train so much easier."
