Sinn Féin Calls For Action On L'Derry Bonfire Sites
Sinn Féin MLA Pádraig Delargy has called on statutory agencies to take action on bonfire sites in Derry.
The Foyle MLA stated that "serious health and safety risks" are threatening the surrounding area and that it is "time for statutory agencies to step up and either remove these bonfires or mitigate the health and safety risks."
He described the bonfires as "anti-community" and a "stark contrast" to the positive events taking place across the city.
Former PSNI Officer Jon Burrows Becomes Newest UUP MLA Former PSNI officer Jon Burrows formally signed into Stormont as the new Ulster Unionist MLA for North Antrim. He committed to serving all constituents "without exception" and expressed his honour to once again serve the people of Northern Ireland. UUP Leader Mike Nesbitt MLA welcomed Mr Burrows, describing him as "an ideal candidate" with a "wealth of experience," while outgoing MLA Colin Crawford offered his full support and wished him every success in the new role.
Alliance Welcomes New Commissioner For Victims And Survivors
The Alliance Party has welcomed the appointment of Joe McVey as the new Commissioner for Victims and Survivors.
South Belfast MLA Paula Bradshaw, Chair of the Executive Office Committee, said the appointment, which begins on 6 October 2025, is "long overdue but very welcome" given the "considerable concerns" around the legacy process.
East Antrim MLA Stewart Dickson added that after "considerable challenges" in filling public appointments, it is "essential, now more than ever, to ensure that the voice of victims is properly heard."

Good news on jobs in two very different technologies has been welcomed. Robin Newton, the East Belfast DUP MLA said that financial services company Fortis - in partnership with supermarket chain, Tesco - will be recruiting staff for 1,500 jobs, some of which will be located in their Belfast offices.

SDLP MLAs will meet with fuel poverty charity National Energy Action, the Federation of Small Businesses, the Equality Commission and the General Medical Council on the same day that the Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss arrive in Northern Ireland to convince a small number of Conservative Party members that they should be the next Prime Minister.

Police have issued an appeal for information after a shot was reportedly fired at a house in Portadown, Co Armagh. In what has been described as a "reckless attack", police have said that a shot was fired at the front window of the house on Loughgall Road at about 00:25.
