Racially-Motivated Graffiti And Criminal Damage In Dunmurry
An appeal for information has been made by police in west Belfast following a report of racially-motivated graffiti and criminal damage in Dunmurry.
Police were notified at around 2.35pm on Thursday (7 August) that windows had been smashed alongside the graffiti at a property in the Glenkeen area.
Neighbourhood Sergeant Orman said: "We believe the damage occurred sometime on Wednesday night, August 6. This incident is being treated as a racially motivated hate crime and our enquiries into it are ongoing. We would appeal to anyone who might have any information to contact us".
NI Water Confirms Temporary Reopening Of Queens Quay
NI Water has confirmed that Queens Quay in County L'Derry will temporarily reopen to two-way traffic on the evening of Friday, 8 August, ahead of this Saturday's Apprentice Boys' Parade.
The move is part of efforts to minimise disruption during major city events while essential sewer relining works continue. The safety barrier along Queens Quay will remain in place over the weekend, but two-way traffic will be facilitated. The one-way closure will be reinstated from 7am on Monday, 11 August, to allow completion of the infrastructure works.
Meanwhile, traffic management has been lifted from Culmore Road and Foyle Bridge, and lane closures on Madam's Bank Road will be carefully monitored during the parade to help maintain traffic flow.
Webinar Scheduled For Bluetongue Virus
A webinar providing an update on Bluetongue virus (BTV-3) will be hosted by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) on Tuesday, 12 August, between 7pm and 9pm.
During the session, which is open to all, department officials from the Veterinary Service & Animal Health Group will provide information on BTV-3, including the outbreaks in the European Union and Great Britain, as well as surveillance, agreed disease control response and vaccination.
The session will conclude with an opportunity to put questions to the panel of experts. A recording of the webinar will be made available on the DAERA website for those unavailable to attend.

Man Extradited From Republic Of Ireland To Face Murder Charges
A 62-year-old man has been extradited from the Republic of Ireland to Northern Ireland to stand trial for the murder of three RUC officers in 1982. The man, originally from the Lurgan area, was arrested in the Republic of Ireland on 21st August 2024.

£1m Drug Haul Seized At Larne Harbour
Suspected Class A drugs worth an estimated £1 million has been seized at Larne Habour. Shortly before 6am on Friday, 18th August police and Border Force colleagues carried out a vehicle stop-and-search operation, during which they discovered a large quantity of suspected Class A drugs .

Police Continue To Investigate Laptop And Notebook Loss
Police are continuing to investigate the loss of an officer's laptop and notebook. It is believed the material fell from a moving vehicle on the foreshore stretch of the M2 motorway, on Thursday 17th August around 4.15pm. The laptop was immediately deactivated and has since been recovered. No personnel files were involved.

Dee Stitt Resigns As CEO Of Charter NI
David 'Dee' Stitt has announced he is to stand down as CEO of Charter NI. Mr Stitt has faced ongoing calls for his resignation from the community charity over his links to loyalist paramilitaries. In a statement Charter NI said: "David has asked that we accept his resignation of CEO duties within Charter NI (tendered on Tues. 28th Aug).
