Communities Minister Launches 'Move More, Live Better' Campaign
Communities Minister Gordon Lyons has launched a new campaign, 'Move More, Live Better', following a kayaking session at the Erne Paddlers Club in Enniskillen.
The campaign is designed to inspire the public to explore new opportunities to become more physically active.
The new campaign includes online resources developed with partners to make it easier for people to find a form of exercise that suits them. Minister Lyons, who also enjoyed a walk at the National Trust's Castle Coole estate and Tully Castle, stated that being active helps people "feel better, make new friends and build stronger communities". Richard Archibald, Sport NI Interim CEO, commented that "getting active has huge benefits for both our mental and physical health and there are so many different activities to try right on our doorsteps". He encouraged people to step out of their comfort zone and try something new.
Chloe Hamilton, coach at Erne Paddlers, said the club was "pleased to support" the campaign and that their inclusive programmes aim to make paddlesport open and welcoming to everyone, building confidence and a sense of wellbeing. The campaign is the latest initiative in the Department for Communities' efforts to promote a healthier and more active society.
