Police Ombudsman Investigates Portadown Incident
The Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland is investigating an incident involving police and a young man in Portadown on Friday, 13 June.
The incident is believed to have taken place in an alleyway connected to West Street at approximately 10.44pm. Ombudsman investigators would like to speak to anyone who witnessed what occurred or who may have mobile phone footage of the incident. They are also keen to speak to two men who were in the alleyway immediately before the incident took place.
Anyone with information is asked to call the freephone number, 0800 032 7880.

A man has been charged with murder and attempted murder following the death of Stephen Brannigan and the serious assault of a priest in Downpatrick on Sunday, 10 August. The body of 56-year-old Mr Brannigan was discovered at a house in the Marian Park area of the town. On the same day, a priest was seriously assaulted at St Patrick's Church.

Belfast City Council's Planning Committee has granted planning permission for several major developments across the city this month. Permission was given for a new 164-bedroom hotel, which will include a ground floor bar and restaurant, by applicant Andras House at the junction of Botanic Avenue and Donegall Pass.

Communities Minister Gordon Lyons has launched the 28th annual European Heritage Open Days (EHOD), an annual celebration of local history and culture. The event will take place on Saturday, 13 and Sunday, 14 September, offering free access to a variety of venues including historic cottages, mills, private houses, walks, and talks.

Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald has announced that the "Ambition to Grow" programme is helping over 250 companies create good jobs and increase external sales. The Invest NI programme, first launched in 2022, aims to support micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in achieving sales outside of Northern Ireland.
