Two Men Charged Over DCI Caldwell Attempted Murder
Two men have been charged following their arrests under the Terrorism Act on Monday, 11 August, as part of the ongoing investigation into the attempted murder of Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell.
A 45-year-old man from the Stewartstown area and a 25-year-old man from west Belfast have both been charged with Preparation of Terrorist Acts and Perverting the Course of Justice. The men are due to appear at Dungannon Magistrates' Court today, Wednesday, 13 August.
The charges are a result of a police investigation into the attack on Detective Chief Inspector Caldwell, which occurred in Omagh in February 2023. As is standard procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Two Men Appear In Court Charged With L'Derry Murder
Two men have appeared at L'Derry Magistrates' Court charged with the murder of a 52-year-old man. Edward Meenan's body was discovered in an alleyway just off Creggan Street in the city at around 2.45am on Sunday 25 November. He had sustained significant injuries to his head and body. The investigation into his death has led to a number of arrests.
