NI Students Celebrate Top A-level Results
Education Minister Paul Givan has congratulated students across Northern Ireland after they received their BTEC, AS, and A level examination results.
The results showed that around a third of A level students were awarded the highest grades of A* to A, with Northern Ireland retaining its position as the top-performing region in the United Kingdom. The overall percentage of students achieving grades A* to E was 98.7%.
Speaking during a visit to Rathmore Grammar School, Minister Givan praised the dedication and hard work of the students: "The grades they have achieved are a testament to their commitment and endeavour. Once again, our pupils have delivered an outstanding performance."
The Minister also offered words of reassurance to those who may not have received the results they hoped for. He said: "I want to reassure them not to lose heart. This is just one part of a much bigger journey." He encouraged students to seek guidance from their schools and explore the many routes available for their next steps.
In addition, Mr Givan paid tribute to all teachers across Northern Ireland, acknowledging their "tireless" work and dedication to "shaping the futures of our young people."

Figures released by the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) on Thursday August 16 show a record 48,000 grades have been issued to Northern Ireland students across all exam boards.

Education Minister Michelle McIlveen has offered her congratulations to all students receiving their A level and AS level exam results today. The Minister acknowledged the significant challenges faced by these young people during the last three academic years, which she said makes their achievements all the more remarkable.

Drop In NI Top Grades As Students Receive A-Level Results
The percentage of NI students receiving A* and A grades at AS and A-level has fallen compared to last year. Approximately 37.5% of pupils received A* or A grades at A-level, down from 44% in 2022, according to provisional figures published by the Joint Council for Qualifications (JQC). However, the results are higher than pre-pandemic years.

Around 750,000 students across England, Wales and Northern Ireland will receive their GCSE results today, with another year of record-breaking marks expected. About 30,000 NI-based GCSE students are receiving their grades and while overall the percentage of passes in Northern Ireland remained the same, higher grades have slipped. In 2010, 75.
