Man treated in hospital following flat fire
A man has been treated in hospital for smoke inhalation after being rescued from a fire at his flat in west Belfast.
The fire is believed to have started at the flat on the Suffolk Road when a toilet roll, soaked in flammable liquid, was pushed through the letterbox.
The man was eventually rescued by the emergency services after the door of the property was damaged in the attacked preventing him from escaping.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Man Rescued From Warrenpoint Flat Fire
A man has been rescued from a fire at his flat in Warrenpoint, County Down. The blaze started in the kitchen of the flat at the Promenade Apartments at Osbourne Promenade at around 2.00am on Friday. Group commander Alastair Rooney said that the fire alarm in the flat was not working, which led to the man not getting an early warning.

Man in serious condition after Portrush fire
A 39-year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital after being injured during a fire at his flat in Portrush. It is understood that the man suffered extensive burns to his lower body and was treated for the effects of smoke inhalation.

THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

63-Year-Old Dies In Flat Fire
A fire at a flat in south Belfast has caused the death of a 63-year-old man. The fire broke out in a top floor flat on University Street around 19:20 on Sunday evening. The man was rescued from the building but was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the fire has yet to be established.
