Blooming marvellous menu served up at Botanic
Botanic Gardens will be the undoubted destination for gardeners and gastronomes alike this coming weekend when Garden Gourmet arrives in Belfast.
Combining Belfast’s traditional Autumn Flower Show and the Northern Ireland Food and Drink Festival, Garden Gourmet promises to delight all the senses, with colourful displays of thousands of prize blooms combined with the finest local food and drink to tantalize both the nostrils and tastebuds, a packed entertainment programme, including live music, and the opportunity to get ‘hands-on’ through a variety of workshops.
Belfast City Council’s Autumn Flower Show is the biggest flower show in the Province and will see displays of thousands of colourful prize blooms with all types of flowers, from chrysanthemums to dahlias, roses to gladioli and fuchsias, alongside exhibits of amazing monster vegetables, including enormous onions, monster marrows and the longest parsnip in Northern Ireland.
The second Northern Ireland Food and Drink Festival will feature an extensive menu of delicious local produce, to sample and delight those taste buds, as well as cookery demonstrations featuring local chefs sharing tips, secrets and recipe ideas from some of the Province’s top kitchens.
Garden Gourmet will be open to the general public between 12.30pm – 6pm on Staurday and Sunday with admission costs of £3 (£2 for senior citizens) with accompanied children free of charge.

Lidl Northern Ireland has announced the reopening of its Stewartstown Road store in West Belfast and the opening of a new store in Carryduff. Graveyard damaged by vandals in Co Down
Police are appealing for information following an attack on a graveyard in Co Down. The incident occurred at the First Presbyterian Church in Saintfield and was reported to police shortly before 9pm on Thursday. Seven gravestones were damaged and 12 clay flower pots smashed in the attack which police described as "sickening".
