Newtownstewart Trailer Marking Event Set For 12 September
Derg and Strabane Neighbourhood Policing Teams, in partnership with Derry & Strabane PCSP, will host a trailer marking session in Newtownstewart on Saturday 12 September, from 10am to 2pm.
The event will take place at L W Surphlis & Son, 21 Drumlegagh Church Road.

This free initiative, for trailer-marking only, is a proven crime prevention measure that deters criminals and helps police confirm the rightful owners of vehicles. It takes just a few minutes to complete and usually attracts strong interest.

Vital Lifesaving Equipment Stolen From Newtownstewart Fire Station
Vital lifesaving equipment has been stolen from from Newtownstewart Fire Station in Co Tyrone. David Nichol, Western Area Commander, Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) confirmed that several pieces of equipment – critical to operational response to road traffic collisions – were stolen during a break-in between 10.15pm and 10.

Blaze At Sion Mills Being Treated As Arson
A fire at a derelict building in Sion Mills near Strabane is being treated as arson. The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) attended the scene at the empty Herdman's Mill just after 9pm on Sunday, 14 August. Firefighters from Strabane, L'Derry, Castlederg and Newtownstewart put out the blaze.

Funding Boost Helps Libraries
Northern Ireland libraries have decided on a revised plan, which allow for longer opening hours, after they received a boost in funding. Libraries NI said that the extra £2.4m allocated to them by the Department of Culture Arts and Leisure has relieved financial pressures.

Four Men Charged In Connection With Newtownstewart Violence
Four men have appeared before Dungannon Magistrates Court charged with a number of offences in connection with violent incidents in Newtownstewart earlier this week. On Sunday, 9th October it was reported that a number of masked men had smashed windows in the Forthill Walk area of the town at around 4.30pm.

Newtownstewart Derelict Site Transformed Into New Playpark
A former derelict site in Newtownstewart has been transformed into a new playpark thanks to funding from Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs Minister Edwin Poots. During a visit to the £347,000 project the Minister saw the state-of-the-art play equipment, which includes wheelchair accessible swings and roundabouts.
