Assembly Approves Final Step To Close Non-Domestic RHI Scheme
Northern Ireland's Economy Minister, Dr Caoimhe Archibald, has confirmed the closure of the Non-Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme after the Assembly approved the final legislative step required. The move delivers a key promise in the New Decade, New Approach agreement, with the closure approach developed through public consultation and agreed by the Executive.
The Minister said: "Securing the closure of the Non-Domestic RHI Scheme has been a priority for me since taking office, and I am pleased that the Assembly has now approved the legislation required to bring the Scheme to a close.
"The closure of the Scheme fulfils a commitment in the New Decade, New Approach agreement and draws a line under the issues associated with RHI.
"For the first time, scheme participants, MLAs and Treasury have reached agreement on a way forward for the Scheme. That unprecedented consensus has been critical in delivering a workable and sustainable outcome, providing certainty for participants and enabling the successful closure of the Scheme."

Sinn Féin Calls For Closure Of RHI Scheme
Sinn Féin has called for the closure of the Renewable Heating Incentive (RHI) scheme. The party's Economy Spokesperson Conor Murphy made the call in response to the Department for the Economy's consultation on the future of RHI. Mr Murphy said: "RHI is not a good scheme which went wrong. It is a bad scheme which was made even worse.
