Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has confirmed that a £390,000 carriageway resurfacing project on A3 Main Street, Moira, is scheduled to start on 14 September 2026.

The essential maintenance works will focus on the section of carriageway stretching between the junction with Station Road and the junction with Backwood Road.

Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins said: "This is a substantial investment which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users and demonstrates my commitment to improving our roads, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses, and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out."

To reduce disruption during busy travel hours, the Department will implement daytime lane restrictions alongside overnight road closures between 14 September 2026 and 10 October 2026. Daytime lane closures will take effect from Monday 14 September until Friday 25 September 2026, operating Monday to Friday from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm. Beginning 21 September 2026, overnight road closures will be put in place from Monday to Thursday, running between 9.00 pm and 6.00 am. A signed diversion route via Lisburn and Dromore will operate during periods when the road is closed.

Although work schedules and traffic management measures have been designed to minimise inconvenience, drivers are advised to anticipate potential delays, allow extra travel time, and adhere to all temporary traffic controls, though local access will be maintained where possible.
